Co-founder, Carole Tomas, started working as a pet sitter in 1985 during summer vacations from her teaching position with Chesterfield County. The company began with two pet care providers in the Bon Air and Midlothian areas and, three years later, Carole incorporated Pet Pleasers and resigned from teaching to devote her efforts to the business. Pet Pleasers, Inc. has grown to include a staff of more than thirty adult sitters and has serviced thousands of families and their pets in Richmond and the surrounding areas. Carole and her husband, Bob, ran Pet Pleasers, Inc. until retiring in October 2016.
Current owner, Tracy Hughes, joined Pet Pleasers, Inc. in November 1999 as a part time pet sitter in the far west end of Henrico County while working at a local veterinary hospital. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the nature and flexibility of the job and transition to a full time pet sitter. Two years later, Tracy began assisting Carole in the office and spent fifteen more years working under Carole and Bob before taking over the company upon their retirement. She and the staff are dedicated to continuing Carole’s legacy of providing the highest quality of in-home pet care in the area.
Pet Pleasers, Inc. employs a mature, responsible and well trained staff. Our sitters are carefully screened, are bonded and insured and complete a training period which includes basic animal behavior, emergency care, administration of medications, routine pet care and personal and home security. Each caregiver works within a few miles of his or her home which ensures strong community ties and an understanding of the specific pet care needs of their community. As a Pet Pleasers, Inc. client, you will know your pet care provider. Furthermore, our sitter will understand your personal pet and home care requirements. We offer an initial meeting at your home and subsequent visits can be provided, if necessary, until you and your pet are comfortable with your Pet Pleasers, Inc. caregiver.
